Ao no Exorcist 12 – What Ifs

Chuuuuuuuu braaaaaaaaaaaaayt!

Chapter 12 – “Bug Trap”

Phew, that was close. It was nice to actually show the perspective of Ryuji here about the light he saw, and that was great enough for Shuma to actually have already suspected that nobody would find out about the flames either way because it’s too dark.

Oddly, the five of them manage to meet at the same location. The scream must’ve been that loud, but it’s still surprising for things to go like that. They manage to find a lantern but little did they know that it was actually a peg lantern. Through a lot of things, they managed to get back to the base safely.

Sadly, though, there were a lot of things here that would just suggest how bad the path of being the son of Satan being an Exorcist would be. At some point while trying to go back to the base, Rin was captured by a big moth demon. Rin’s thoughts would obviously be to leave him as he can handle himself with the blue flames he has. But regardless of that, the friendship they have connected together, it wasn’t as great as I thought. When Ryuji said something about the greatness of their friendship, I grinned, hoping that Rin would at least show some smile as well. On the contrary, it’s like he stood still, thinking about how bad things would turn out if they know he was the son of Satan. He knows very well the position he is in. However, on the bright side, I’m happy that Rin’s actually thinking well here; he hasn’t gotten full of himself if we compare his terrible childhood with the friends he has in the present.

In the middle of the test, Yukio also disappeared to the woods to supposedly help someone because someone used his firework. But this wasn’t the case. Takara and Izumo came back safely, just right after Rin’s group. The rate they’re going, it must be either Mephisto holding Yukio off or just a few works of Amaimon.

Unexpectedly, right after all of them gather exception of Yukio, Amaimon appears before them. It sounds that bad, honestly, because if this goes on, Rin might really show his blue flames. Still, we don’t know their main objective, and Mephisto seems to have lost his mind already, losing more of trust in the True Cross.

This is a great progression. But could this be what referred to a ‘bug trap’? Hope not.
